Halloween

We started October sick and it lasted the whole month and is still going. It put a damper on some fun but they still got to have a great Halloween!
Pumpkin picking at the grocery store........yup, that is all we made it to this year :( But they enjoyed climbing around on the display. They were disappointed to not go to a fun place to pick pumpkins, so was I to be honest, we have a few great places around here for them to do all fall farm kind of activities and me missed out this year but it was better we did, Colt ended up in the ER this night with pneumonia, poor kid.

We brought our wagon to feel like we were really getting the farm experience!

Each picture has someone else smiling good! If only I knew how to photoshop and make one good picture!

The kids were eager to carve their pumpkins but I forgot how quickly they go to mush once you carve them here in Texas. So they only lasted about 3 days then they were covered in mold and turning into puddles of goo on the front porch, which apparently snails like because they were covered in snails too. The kids were really sad about it but next year hopefully I will remember to not do it so early, or maybe we will go for painting instead!

They were a little dangerous to lite with the dare devil around! She kept trying to stick her hand right in there to grab it. And again, we didn't get one picture with everyone smiling so here is a sample with different kids smiling in each one!

Ellie did get a real pumpkin like everyone else, just didn't get it carved in time for the photo! The kids loved watching us carve them but weren't into touching the pumpkin guts.

We actually got to make it to the ward trunk or treat party when no one had a fever or other contagious sickness! We had a two day sickness free, only coughing, break and it was great!

Ellie totally loved it! She seemed to understand the concept and went up to everyone mumbling something and then put her candy in her bucket and tried to say thank you and clapped. It was so fun watching her get into this super fun kid tradition! Livy didn't want to go as slow as we were going so she went around by herself getting all the goodies, Rachel hung out with Eric passing out candy for most of it and Colt was with Ellie and I.

One of the families had a table set up with their teenager hiding underneath and had his hand sticking out in the bowl of candy which my kids were fascinated with and terrified of! They wouldn't put their hand in to get candy but they couldn't stop watching. Colt is still obsessed with it and if someone asks him about Halloween he has to tell them about the hand in the bowl, it was a bad hand, it tried to get me that hand. Poor kid!

Livy was so happy to get her face painted and play all the games that they had set up inside!

Then came Halloween Day finally! It has been a huge count down here at our house on our calender, for the trunk or treat and now this! Rachel had a fever for a few days and was just starting to feel better, we thought :(. Ellie was way excited as you can see! And yes, that is the regular Thomas the train, don't be confused because of his french/beret looking hat!

Rachel the tiger

Colt as Thomas the train

Olivia the dragon

Ellie as the dress up bin surprise/ballerina!

Walking the neighborhood, deciding which houses were too "haunted" to go up to the door or not. Some people get way into decorating and sounds and dressing up and the kids couldn't handle it and decided to skip some of those, even though they loved looking at them.

After a walk down one street we made our way home where half of us rested and passed out candy to the "customers" while the others his the candy trail. Colt and Livy were die hard trick or treaters and would have went all night. After a little break we switched kids and Rachel and Ellie got a little more trick or treating in. Ellie was as into it this time as at the trunk or treat. And she was a champ at handing out handfuls of candy too. Rachel like trick or treating with just me and Ellie for a little so it was calmer, sweet Rae, poor girl got really sick the next few days.

Dancing in the fog machine

Spooky house across the street had black lights, tons of decorations/body parts scattered on the grass and trees and creepy talking recording going on all month every night. Again, the kids had a love hate relationship with it!

This all we could manage after a long day!

Miss Cora as the cutest elephant ever!

Dan the pirate!

They have been playing in their costumes all month. Every few days since they got them they put them on and run around and do whatever, just glad they got a lot of good use and the kids loved them! Happy Halloween, hope yours was a good one too!
