Where to start with this little guy? He makes me crazy and makes me so happy! He brings me so much joy and contentment and drives me nuts, everyday, every 20 minutes! This is a fun adorable and sweet age but also an age that makes you want to scream a lot! I'm so glad that the good loving times keep coming and are scattered in with the crazy ones so that I am constantly reminded of how much I love him.
He is talking up a storm and starting to get to the point where he is saying funny stuff all the time. Now I just have to find all my scrap papers I jot them down on!
He calls all the girls dolls "sparkle." And I think having all sisters is starting to wear off on him. He likes to take "sparkles" in the car with him sometimes. He piles on headbands and thinks that is what he is supposed to do. And the other day he had on a ballerina outfit because the girls did, Eric didn't like that one much. But I know this is just what happens when a little boy had older sisters!
He loves to volunteer for the prayer. He screams a lot. He picks on Ellie a lot. Lately he just gives her a little push, just enough to knock her off balance so she falls. He also plays with Ellie a lot, he loves hanging out with her and even though he beats her up a lot, she loves being with him too. He is good at saying excuse me when he needs to get by. The other day he wanted the couch to move so he could get something from under the couch and said "excuse couch."
He knows a lot of his letters and the Prophets name. I think I forgot how smart kids are at this age because he surprises me each day with different things he knows. He is fearless in the pool and will jump off of anything and loves getting thrown high. When he doesn't want to eat he has lots of excuses he uses "it's too hot, it's too cold, it's too yucky, I can't like that, it's too spicy," giving one after another as I refute each one. He has taken a similar approach to other physical things he doesn't want to do, "my belly hurts, my back hurts," followed with a big smile.
He told me he was scared of lots of different things when we got back from Puerto Rico, I don't know if it is the age or the trip? Now he always wants to go "home", which I now know means the living room. He likes to tell me which way to go in the car by just saying "this way" and then continuing to scream, "no that way" when I choose the other way. One of his favorite sayings now is "oh man", and he actually uses it in the correct context! That is one of my favorites!
He likes to discuss who has a "peanut" and who has a "giyna" (sound it out). He used to list people and get it totally wrong but he has pretty much got it right now as he list boys/men he knows and girls/women he knows. And every time I get out of the shower he likes to talk about how Ellie drank all the milk so there is none left now.
Setting: Ellie and I in the kitchen, Colt and the girls at the table eating breakfast. Ellie playing in the cabinets and she starts crying after she hits her head.
Colt: "Mom, don't hurt Ellie. She's just a baby! Don't hurt Ellie mom."
I couldn't stop laughing because that is what I say to him everyday! At least I know he hears me!
He is my closest buddy now a days. I think Ellie even wanders around the house by herself more than he does. He always wants to be by my side. I really enjoy having him with me, as long as he is not screaming! He is a funny, fun, loving, sweet, and joyful kid. Especially when you are by yourself with him!
Livy showing Colt how to make a silly face. He loves his sisters. He is getting to be awesome at saying he is sorry to them!
We were looking at a water fountain the other day and he said "I see a dolphin."
"You do?" I said.
"Yeah." Followed by a pause and then a look, "I just kidding you!" Then poking Ellie, "just kidding you Ellie." Funny boy.
I wish this picture was clear! It is such a happy perfectly not forced smile and face from Livy!
When it gets dark out he says, "Turn the sun off." When I ask him who turns the sun off, he tells me he did. He says he turns the moon on. And in the morning it is "I turned the moon off." His two favorite conversations, sun goes down and who has a peanut.
When we were lining up a bunch of plastic animals the other day some of them wouldn't stand up and he said "that one's tired" and then again to another few who wouldn't stand. He's growing up, not getting angry that they won't stand, but making it part of his playing! So sweet sometimes!
He loves trying to use the potty now a days. The problem is that he rips his pants off by himself and tries to empty the potty by himself too! Yikes, that is trouble. The good news is that he likes to poo in the potty. Way to go buddy!
He loves riding his bike. He always wants to go to scouts with dad. He loves gumballs. He loves books and tools and princess shoes. He loves doing anything the girls are doing. He loves finding bugs, squishing bugs, playing in water, finding lizards, pretending lots of things are snakes, and climbing on stuff. He is smiley and laughs a lot and is really loud! We haven't mastered whispering yet but we are working on it! I love you Colt and I am so happy I am your mom. You make me crazy sometimes but mostly you just make me realize what an awesome guy you are and I am so happy to have you. I love you very very much!
